Online Earning Apps Pakistan: Read This Before You Pay

Honest Guide

Online Earning Apps in Pakistan: The Full Picture, Good and Bad

If you are thinking about putting money into one of these apps, read this first. No sponsorship, no referral links, no hype. Just what these apps really are, why people like them, and what usually goes wrong.

You have probably seen them. An app promising you can turn Rs. 500 into Rs. 5,000 by playing a few rounds of a colour game or a card game. Screenshots of JazzCash payouts. A friend who says he withdrew Rs. 12,000 last week. It looks easy, and for a while it can feel easy.

So let us go through it properly. What you actually get, what it actually costs you, and what happens to most people who try.

The one thing to understand before anything else

If an app asks you to deposit money and then decides your result by chance (spins, colours, dice, cards, crash games), that is gambling. It does not matter that the app calls it earning. Gambling is illegal in Pakistan under the Prevention of Gambling Act, 1977.

Earning or gambling? A simple test

People get confused because the marketing uses the word “earning” everywhere. But there is an easy way to tell the difference. Earning means you give something (your time, your skill, a product) and get paid for it. Gambling means you give money and hope for a result you cannot control.

The honest pros and cons

These apps did not become popular by accident. There are real reasons people use them, and pretending otherwise would be dishonest. There are also real reasons most people end up worse off. Here is both sides, straight.

What people genuinely like

  • You can start with very little. Some apps let you deposit Rs. 200 or Rs. 300. That feels low risk compared to most business ideas.
  • Signing up takes two minutes. No CV, no interview, no skills required, no waiting for a client to reply.
  • Local payment methods work. JazzCash and Easypaisa are built in, so it feels familiar and convenient.
  • Small withdrawals often do go through. Especially early on. This is real and it is why people trust the app.
  • It is entertaining. The games are fast, colourful, and designed to feel exciting. If you treat it purely as paid entertainment, that is at least honest about what it is.
  • No boss, no schedule. You can play at 2am from your bed. For someone working long hours, that flexibility is genuinely appealing.

What actually goes wrong

  • The maths is built against you. Every one of these games keeps a fixed percentage of everything staked. The longer you play, the more certain your loss becomes.
  • Winning early is a trap, not luck. Most people who lose big started by winning. The early win is what makes you raise your stakes.
  • Withdrawals get blocked. Turnover rules on bonuses, high minimum limits, sudden KYC demands, frozen accounts. This is the number one complaint about every app in this category.
  • There is nobody to complain to. These operators are not licensed in Pakistan. No regulator, no consumer court, no bank chargeback.
  • Apps disappear. The domain gets blocked, a new one opens under a different name, and your balance is gone with the old one.
  • It is illegal. Both using and promoting these platforms breaks Pakistani law.
  • It becomes a habit fast. Chasing losses is the normal reaction, not a weak one, and it is exactly what turns a Rs. 500 experiment into a Rs. 50,000 hole.
  • APK files carry risk. Downloading outside the Play Store means nobody checked what that app is doing with your contacts, SMS and files.
Weighing it up honestly

Every advantage in the left column is about how easy it is to start. Every problem in the right column is about what happens after you start. That imbalance is the whole story of this category.

The maths, in plain words

This part is not complicated, and once you see it you cannot unsee it.

Every game of chance has what is called a house edge. It is a fixed percentage the app keeps out of everything that gets staked. It is not bad luck and it is not a glitch. It is designed in before a single person downloads the app, and it is how the operator pays for servers, marketing, referral commissions and profit.

Say the edge is 5 percent. You deposit Rs. 10,000. You play, you win some rounds, you lose some rounds, and you keep cycling your balance through the games. By the time that money has gone around ten times, about Rs. 5,000 of it has quietly moved from you to the operator. You did not do anything wrong. That is just the machine working as designed.

This is why two things are true at the same time, and why people find it so confusing: short term wins are completely normal, and long term profit is basically impossible. The app needs the first one to happen so the second one can.

Why withdrawals stop working

Search “withdrawal not working” with the name of almost any earning app and you will find hundreds of Pakistani users asking the same question. It is rarely a technical fault. Usually it is one of these:

  • Turnover requirements. That Rs. 500 welcome bonus is not really Rs. 500. The terms say you must stake it 10 or 20 times over before any of it can be withdrawn. Most people never get there.
  • High minimum withdrawal limits. If the minimum is Rs. 2,000 and your balance is Rs. 1,400, that money stays inside the app where it will eventually be played away.
  • KYC at the worst moment. Notice how they never ask for your CNIC when you are depositing, only when you try to take money out.
  • Account freezes. Usually justified with vague wording about “irregular activity” or “multiple accounts”, with no real appeal process.
  • Payment channels breaking. Banks and mobile wallets flag gambling related transfers, and when that route closes the app cannot pay you even if it wants to.
  • The operator vanishing. Many of these apps run through offshore shell companies with rotating domains. When one gets blocked, an identical app appears under a new name a week later.

And here is the part that hurts most: there is nowhere to escalate. Because there is no legal licensing system for these operators in Pakistan, there is no regulator who can force them to pay you.

Where the law stands

Gambling is banned in Pakistan under the Prevention of Gambling Act, 1977, along with the provincial versions of that law and Section 294A of the Pakistan Penal Code. The 1977 law was written before the internet existed, so it does not name apps directly, but authorities apply its general ban to online platforms.

Enforcement has moved online in recent years. The PTA blocks betting and casino domains regularly. Running or hosting such a platform can also be treated as a cybercrime under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act. In August 2025 the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency identified dozens of gambling and casino apps as illegal and sent the list to the PTA for blocking.

For a normal user, this means three practical things. The app can be blocked overnight. Your payment method can stop working without warning. And if there is a dispute over your money, there is no legal route to get it back.

Warning signs worth taking seriously

“Guaranteed daily income”

No game of chance can guarantee anything. If a fixed daily figure appears in the marketing, that claim cannot be true, and the people making it know that.

Most of the money comes from recruiting

When the real earnings are referral commissions and team levels rather than the product itself, the structure is a pyramid. The people at the bottom are funding the people above them.

The app is only available as a downloadable APK

Sideloaded files skip Google’s review completely. Check the permissions. A card game has no reason to want your contacts, SMS or call logs.

You cannot find out who runs it

A WhatsApp number and a Telegram channel are not a company. If you do not know who is holding your money, you cannot chase them for it.

The web address keeps changing

Rotating domains help operators stay ahead of blocking. They also make it very easy to walk away from what they owe and start again clean.

Every review is glowing

Most review sites for these apps are affiliates who get paid when you deposit. Check the download button. If there is a referral code in the link, that site is not neutral.

If you have already lost money

The natural reaction after a bad loss is to try to win it back. It feels logical. It is also the single most expensive thing you can do, because the maths that took your money the first time has not changed.

Things that actually help:

  • Stop today, not after one more try. Losses do not become recoverable by staying in the same system longer.
  • Remove saved payment details from your phone. Make each deposit a conscious decision instead of two taps.
  • Add up the real numbers. Total deposited versus total actually withdrawn. Write it down. Almost everyone finds the true figure is much worse than what they remembered.
  • Tell one person you trust. Keeping it secret is what lets losses build up quietly for months.
  • Report it. You can file a complaint with the NCCIA and inform your bank or mobile wallet provider. Getting the money back is unlikely, but reports do contribute to platforms being blocked.
When it stops being about money

If this is affecting your sleep, your work or your family, or if you are borrowing to keep playing, that is a health issue and not a money issue. Talk to a doctor or a mental health professional. Gamblers Anonymous runs free online meetings you can join from Pakistan.

What actually works for online income in Pakistan

None of these will make you Rs. 10,000 tonight. All of them are things you keep, and none of them require you to risk your own money.

Freelancing

Pakistan is one of the biggest freelancer markets in the world. Writing, design, development, video editing, virtual assistance. Fiverr and Upwork are the usual starting points. The first month is the hard part, after that it compounds.

Free government skills programmes

DigiSkills and various provincial IT training schemes teach freelancing, digital marketing and development at no cost. Worth doing before you pay anyone for a course.

Selling online

Daraz, Facebook Marketplace, Instagram. You need some starting capital, but you are buying inventory you control rather than staking money on a random result.

Building an audience

YouTube, TikTok, blogging. Slow to start and it takes real consistency, but the audience is yours and nobody can freeze it.

Common questions

Can anyone actually make money from these apps?

Yes, some people win, and some win a lot. But the house edge means the app always pays out less than it takes in, so players as a group lose. Any big win you hear about was funded by other people’s losses, and the person who won it usually keeps playing until it is gone.

Are online earning and gaming apps legal in Pakistan?

No. Real money gambling is banned under the Prevention of Gambling Act, 1977 and the provincial laws that go with it. The PTA blocks these platforms, and hosting one can be treated as a cybercrime under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act.

Why can I not withdraw my balance?

Usually it is turnover requirements attached to a bonus, a minimum withdrawal limit you have not reached, KYC checks that only appear at cash out time, an account restriction, or a payment channel that has been blocked. Since these apps are not licensed in Pakistan, there is no regulator you can appeal to.

Is there any way to get lost money back?

Usually not. Most of these operators are offshore and change domains often. You can report the app and the transactions to the NCCIA and tell your bank or wallet provider, but you should not count on recovery.

Is it safe to install the APK?

An APK from outside the Play Store has not been reviewed by anyone. Before installing, check what permissions it asks for. Access to your contacts, SMS or call logs is not needed for a game and is a serious privacy risk.

How do I know if a review of one of these apps is honest?

Look at the links. If the download button has a referral or affiliate code in it, that site gets paid when you deposit. Its interest and your interest are not the same.

What if I only play with small amounts for fun?

Then be honest with yourself that you are paying for entertainment, not earning. Decide the amount before you open the app, treat it as already spent, and never deposit again to win back a loss. If you cannot stick to that, the amount is not the problem.

The short version

They are easy to start, genuinely fun for a while, and sometimes they do pay. They are also illegal here, mathematically stacked against you, impossible to complain about, and very good at keeping you playing. If you go ahead anyway, treat every rupee you deposit as money you have already spent.
